Guidance Counselor / Student Support & Special Education Coordinator

Peconic Community School (PCS) is seeking a highly emotionally aware, child-centered Guidance Counselor to support the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students and to oversee IEPs and special education services.

This role is ideal for a thoughtful advocate who believes deeply in knowing children well, partnering closely with families and teachers, and ensuring that every student is supported with dignity, care, and intention.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing individual and small-group counseling support to students

  • Designing and facilitating occasional small-group lessons and targeted academic support

  • Overseeing IEPs and coordinating special education services

  • Collaborating with families, faculty, and outside providers

  • Advocating for students’ needs in alignment with PCS values and mission

The ideal candidate is:

Early Childhood Educator, Full-Time

Peconic Community School is seeking a passionate, compassionate, enthusiastic early childhood educator, dedicated to bringing a sense of wonder to young children in our play-based, Reggio-inspired early childhood program. 

The Early Childhood Facilitator will provide a child-centered, placed-based, play-based and emergent curriculum for 3 and 4 year olds, in a supportive, loving environment.

 We are seeking candidates who:

  • Are creative, energetic, passionate, collaborative, positive and curious

  • Interested in being a part of a collaborative community and whose commitment and presence will help shape school culture

  • Have a desire to learn, grow and evolve within the context of an educational community

  • Are committed to child-centered learning, and will implement mindfulness, observation, and documentation of children’s process, growth and thinking

  • Are caring, respectful and thoughtful  in relationships with children, co-workers, and families;

  • Understand the essential role the environment and materials play in children’s appreciation of their world.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree  + an Early Childhood education degree, Masters Degree or minimum 5 years experience if no relevant degrees

  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience, preferably in holistic learning, Montessori, or Reggio environments,

  • Collaborative and team-oriented;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills;

  • Enthusiastic about being part of a growing and collaborative progressive school.
